r. mike nichols received his BFA in Illustration and Masters in Art from California State University, Long Beach. He moved to Riverside in 2002 from San Francisco. After taking a break from his art to refurbish their 1927 home and gardens, he returned to painting again fulltime in July 2008. His watercolor work is colorful, technically precise and imaginative. He approaches each painting with the goal of creating something that is personal to his life and experiences. Often working from photos that he has taken, he likes to suspend reality by tossing in an occasional dose of whimsy. His series on Floating Men has become quite recognizable in the local art scene. |
